Looking for some good news? Look no further! While current events may be keeping many of us inside, there are still great things going on that are keeping kids physically active and keeping us involved! Earlier this year, the Alliance provided a grant to Girls on the run of the Greater Chesapeake, a non-profit sports-based organization “dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams”. They work locally in Charles Carroll Barrister Elementary School providing programs to help young women in our communities stay active and empowered. We’re excited to see this program grow here in Southwest Baltimore and have information below on how you can help or participate!
Despite COVID-19 restrictions forcing Girls on the run of the Greater Chesapeake to cancel their planned 5k (scheduled for May 16th) this year, they’ve decided to offer the event as a virtual 5k! Providing opportunities to: run or bike the 5k (3.1 miles), a walk or run of 1 mile, or a 45-minute dance party, the event is free to register for, and they hope you will join them on their social media!
